Yidgha (یدغہ)

Yidgha is a member of the Eastern Iranian branch of Indo-Iranian languages. It is spoken by about 6,200 people in northern Pakistan, particularly in the upper Lotkoh Valley in the Upper Chitral District of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. Most speakers of Yidgha also speak Khowar and Urdu, and some are shifting away from Yidgha.

Yidgha is also known as Yadgha, Yidga, Yudga, Yudgha, Lotkohiwar, Lutkuhwar or Munji-war. It is closely related to Munji, which is spoken in Afghanistan, and the Yidgha people migrated from the Minjan valley in Afghanistan about 500 years ago.

There is no official way to write Yidgha, although some people use the Arabic script for Urdu with some extra letters.
