Central Kilimanjaro

Central Kilimanjaro is a Northeast Bantu language spoken by the Chaga people in the northeast of Tanzania, particularly in the Kilimanjaro Region, and also in the neighbouring Arusha Region.

Central Kilimanjaro is also known as Central Chaga. Dialects include Moshi (Kimochi), Uru, Mbokomu and Wunnjo (Wuuncho). The Moshi dialect is considered the most prestigious as it is spoken in Moshi, the cultural capital of the Chaga people. Moshi and Wuunjo are classified as separate languages in some sources.
