Pare is a Northeast Coast Bantu language spoken by about 500,000 people in the Pare Mountains in the Same and Mwanga Districts of the Kilimanjaro Region in the northeast of Tanzania.
Pare is also known as Asu, Asu Kipare, Chasu, Athu or Chathu. Pare speakers call their language Kipare or Casu, and themselves Wapare. It is written with the Latin alphabet, and there is a translation of the Bible in Pare.
