Berati    Berati

The Berati alphabet is an alternative alphabet for Albanian that was used during the 18th century. It appears in the Codex of Berat (Kodiku i Beratit), which is thought to have been written between 1764 and 1798, and is attributed to Constantine of Berat (Kostandin Berati), an Orthodox monk and writer. It is possible that the alphabet was created around 1731 or earlier, and the script may have been used in Elbasan and possibly Voskopojë.

The Berati alphabet is also known as the Berati script, the Kostë Berati alphabet, or Alfabeti i Beratit in Albanian. It was possibly influenced by the Glagolitic alphabet.
