Korku (कोरकू)

Korku is a a Munda language spoken in central India, mainly in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. In Madhya Pradesh it is spoken in the Betul, Hoshangabad and East Nimar districts in the south of the state, and it is spoken in the Akola, Amravati and Buldana districts of northern Maharashtra. In 2011 there were about 727,000 speakers of Korku, which is also known as Bondeya, Bopchi, Korki, Kuri, Kurku or Ramekher.

Korku is written with the Devanagari alphabet, although few Korku speakers are literate in their language. There are literacy programs in some places, and there is a Korku dictionary, grammar, some texts and translations.
