Yipma is a member of the Angan gropu of Trans-New Guinea languages. It is spoken by about 2,500 people in Morobe Province in eastern Papua New Guinea. In particular, it is spoken in the villages of Wauko, Ande and Mala at the foot of Mount Yelia in the west of Morobe Province.
Yipma is also known Hipma or Baruya. Dialects include Wantakia, Baruya, Anja and Usirampia.
