Waris is a member of the Border group of the Trans-New-Guinea languages. It is spoken by 2,500 people in the Walsa Rural LLG of Sandaun Province in the northwest of Papua New Guinea, and in the Waris District of the Keerom Regency in Papua Province in eastern Indonesia.
Waris is also known as Walsa. It is written with the Latin script, and there is a translation of the Bible in Waris.
