Note: the word 鱔 (síhn) can be translated as eel, but refers specifically to the Asian swamp eel (monopterus albus), an eel-like fish found in China and other parts of Asia. 鰻 (màahn) refers eels, that is any fish belonging to the order Anguilliformes. [Thanks to Ge Tianyu for pointing this out]
