Bambalang language is member of the Eastern Grasslands branch of the Southern Bantoid group of languages. It is spoken in Cameroon by about 29,000 Bamileke people, particularly in Bambalang in the Ndop Central Subdivision of the Ngoketunjia Division of the North West Province of Cameroon.
Other names for Bambalang include Chrambo, Chirambo, Tshirambo, Mbawyakum or Mboyakum. It is closely related to Bafanji, Bamali, Bamun and Bangolan, which are also spoken in Cameroon.
Bambalang was first documented in the 1970s. It is written with the Latin alphabet, and there are several spelling systems. The alphabet shown below was created in 2007 and revised in 2012.
