Mĭn Nán is spoken in the south of Fujian province, Guangdong province, southern Hainan Island, in the south of Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces, and also in Taiwan, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Hongkong, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia. Mĭn is another name for Fujian province and Nán means 'south' or 'southern'.
Approximately 49 million people speak a dialect of Mĭn Nán.
