Tombonuwo is a member of the North Bornean branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 10,000 people in the state of Sabah in the northeast of the island of Borneo in Malaysia. In particular, it is spoken in the Pitas and Labuk-Sugut Districts of northwest Sabah.
Tombonuwo is also known as Tambonuo, Sungai, Lobu or Mutangar Tombonuo. It is written with the Latin alphabet.

The youth went. The youth saw the land to be cleared where the trees were so large. That was waht was to be cleared, at the coconuts. (The Sultan) did not want any coconuts to fall. So, the youth cut down (the tress).
