Coastal Kadazan is a member of the North Bornean group of Malayo-Polynesian languages. It is spoken by about 220,000 Kadazan people in the State of Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan of the coast of Sabah in Malaysia. In particular, it is spoken in the Penampang and Papar districts in the West Coast Division (Bahagian Pantai Barat) in Sabah, and in the Beaufort sub-district of the Membakut District in the Interior Division (Bahagian Pedalaman) of Sabah.
Coastal Kadazan is also known as Boos Kadazan, Bo'os Kadazan or Dusun Tangara. It is consider a dialect of Central Dusun, although it is classified as a separate language by some people. It is closely related the Central Dusun, which is also spoken in Sabah. The two languages are mutually intelligible and a standarised Kadazandusun language, based on the Bundu-Liwan dialect, was created in 1995 by the Kadazandusun Cultural Association Sabah.
