Rongga is a member of the Sumba-Flores branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 4,000 people in the west of Flores Island in East Nusa Tenggara Province in southeastern Indonesia. In particular, it is spoken in the towns of Komba, Bamo, Tanarata, Watunggene in the south of the East Manggarai Regency.
Rongga is closely related to Ngadha and Lio. It can be written with the Latin alphabet, although these is no standard spelling system and it is rarely written. A dictionary and a grammar of Rongga were produced in 2012 and 2016 by I Wayan Arka, a Balinese linguist.
