Nyangatom is a member of the Ateker group of Eastern Nilotic languages. It is spoken by about 24,000 people along the Omo River in the southwest of Ethiopia, particularly in the Lower Omo Valley.
Nyangatom is also known as Inyangatom, Donyiro, Dongiro or Idongiro. It is closely related to Toposa and Turkana. It is primarily an oral language, however can be written with the Latin alphabet.
