Wawonii is a member of the Celebic branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 30,000 people mainly on the island of Wowoni in the Konawe Islands Regency of Southeast Sulawesi Province in Indonesia, and also on the nearby island of Menui, in the Morowali Regency of Central Sulawesi Province.
Wawonii is also known as Wowoni or Wowonii. There are diffferent dialects on the islands where it's spoken. It is quite closely related to Bungku, which is also spoken in Southeast Sulawesi Province. It can be written with the Latin alphabet.
