Paicî is a member of the New Caledonian group of the Southern Oceanic branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 7,300 people in the North Province in the centre of Grand Terre Island in New Caledonia. In particular it is spoken in Poindimié, Ponérihouen, Koné and Poya in the Paici-Camuki Customary Area (Aire coutumière Paici-Camuki).
Paicî is also known as Paici. It is written with the Latin alphabet.

Faisant partie des 28 langues kanak de la Nouvelle-Calédonie, qui appartiennent à la famille austronésienne du groupe océanien, le paicî, est la langue de la Grande-Terre la plus parlée. Selon le recensement ISEE de 1996, elle comptait 5498 locuteurs répartis sur les deux versants de la Grande-Terre : sur la côte est, de Monéo jusqu’à Amoa et sur la côte ouest, de Koné jusqu’à Pouembout et une partie de Poya.
