Ngambay

Ngambay is a member of the Central Sudanic branch of the Nilo-Saharan language family. It is spoken by about 1.38 million Sara Gambai people mainly in southwestern Chad, and also in northeastern Cameroon and eastern Nigeria. In particular, it is spoken in and around the city of Moundou in the Longone Occidental Region of Chad and also in the Logone Oriental Region and the Mayo-Kebbi Ouest Region, and in N'djamena, the capital of Chad.

Other names for Ngambay include Sara, Sara Ngambai, Gamba, Gambaye, Gamblai and Ngambai. It is written with the Latin alphabet using an orthography devised by l’Agence de coopération culturelle et technique.
