Bahnar is a member of the Central Bahnaric branch of the Austroasiatic language family. It is spoken by about 160,000 people in central Vietnam, particularly in the districts of Mang Yang, An Khê, K’Bang, Kông Chro in Gia Lai Province, and in Vĩnh Thạnh, An Lão and Vân Canh districts of Bình Định Province.
Bahnar is also known as Bana or Ba-Na. It is be written with the Latin script, using a spelling system similar to Vietnamese.
