Johor Malay is a Malayic language, spoken mainly in the state of Johor in the south of the Malay Peninsula. It is also spoken along the coast of the state of Riau, in the Riau Islands in Indonesia, and in Singapore. It is closely related to Malay, and includes words borrowed from Arabic, English, Javanesee and Austroasiatic languages.
Johor Malay is also known as Johro-Riau Malay, Daileyk Joho, Lorat Joho or Base Joho. It is written with the Latin script, and is closely related the to Classical Malay that was spoken during the Malacca Sultanate.
