I am wondering if any one has used both Eurotalk and Rosetta stone to learn a language. I use Eurotalk, and usually, if I order directly from Eurotalk, it costs around $40.00. I was looking at Rosetta Stone in a local book store the other day, and they were charging $499.00! Is Rosetta Stone really THAT good? I have my doubts.

Just download it off a torrent if you want to use Rosetta stone. I was pretty neutral towards it because I didn't pay for it. I thought it was good for vocabulary but failed at everything else.

They charge $499 because they can! It's mostly hype.

I thought it was all a hype . . . I will personally stick with Eurotalk. From the descriptions I've seen, they are pretty much the same thing. . . and Eurotalk doesn't put you in the poor house with every purchase.

Now how about this site? Has anyone heard or used this before?

http://www.byki.com/

I found it while reading an article about online learning sites in Popular Science. Pretty interesting article here's the link.

So I went ahead and downloaded the free version of BYKI, and it seems like it is only flashcards. I'll have to do some more looking around at what the "Deluxe" version offers, hopefully something with grammar.

The flashcard systems are ok at best. The system has a good basis, but it only goes one way. Such as la silla and I have to type or say chair. But no way that I have found for it to say the chair and I have to type or say la silla. Also, one can make their own flash card sets, and download other people's as well. Some of the sets have a voice that accompanies the word, which is helpful.

As I find out more about this I'll let you all know.
