Can anyone explain why a lot of non-Russian words (particularly place-names) that begin with 'H' have their initial letter transcribed as 'Г'? For example, 'Hong Kong' comes out as 'Гонг Конг'. Why not with the letter 'Х', which would give a sound closer to the original? After all, 'hockey' is spelt 'хоккей'.
