Batak Simalungun is a Southern Batak language spoken by about 151,000 people in the province of North Sumatra in Indonesia. In particular, it is spoken in the regencies of Deli Serdang, Kota Pematang Siantar, Serdang Bedagai and Simalungun.
Batak Simalungun is also known as Simalungun, Simelungan or Timur. Native speakers call it Sahap Simalungun.
There are ways to write Batak Simalungun with the Batak script and with the Latin alphabet, and there is a translation of the Bible in the language.
