Arkaedian

Arkaedian was invented by Mark Lyman as an alternative way to write English, and for use as secret notes to his children in church. It is a phonetic script, and is designed to be easy to learn and use, even for 8 year olds. Mark worked on it with his daughter through many versions until they were happy with it.

Notable features

Type of writing system: alphabet.
Direction of writing: left to right then from top to bottom in horizontal rows.
Used to write: English
Vowels are written above the consonants that follow them. When a vowel appears without a following consonant, the empty symbol is used.
The es participle is used as a plural marker, and to show possession. The ing participle is used for gerunds (e.g. baking), and the ed is used to indicate the past tense on verbs ending in -ed.
