Ocaina is a member of the Huitoto-Ocaina branch of the Bora-Huitoto language family. It is spoken by about 60 people, mainly in Maynas Province in the Department of Loreto in northeastern Peru, and also in the Department of Amazonas in the Amazonía Region in southern Colombia. In Peru it is spoken along the Yaguasyacu, Ampiyacu, jamayacù, Putumayo and Algodón rivers, and in Colombia it is spoken along the Apoporis, Caquetá and Putumayo rivers. It is spoken mainly by adults.
There are two dialects of Ocaina: Dukaiya and Ibo'tsa. Ocaina people call themselves Dyo'xaiya or Ivo'tsa. It is written with the Latin script.
