Minica Huitoto is a member of the Witoto branch of the Bora-Witoto language family. It is spoken by about 1,500 people mainly in southern Colombia, and also in northern Peru. In particular, it is spoken along the Caguán River near San Vicente del Caguán in the Caquetá Department in Colombia, and along the Igara-Paraná River near Isla de los Monos in Maynas Province in the Loreto Region of Peru.
Minica Huitoto is also known as Minica, Mɨnɨca, Uitoto, Meneca, Huitoto Meneca, Witoto Meneca, Meneka or Meneka-Witoto. It is written with the Latin alphabet, and there is a dictionary and grammar of the language, as well as some other publications, including a translation of the Bible. About 75% of Minica Huitoto speakers in Colombia are literate in their language. It has official recognition in Peru, even though there are only a handful of speakers.

Dɨ́ɨjoma was known for his great experience as a fisherman and for his extensive knowledge regarding the making of fishing lures, such as those used for catching boas, bait generally made from river plants. He also used, in order to catch the sleepy fish, a substance derived from the orícona tree, which he mixed with aquatic herbs, forming a paste that he applied to his face to gain magical powers that would allow him to control the fish.
