Some of the sounds make me think of an indigenous language spoken in Central or South America. At the same time I wonder if it might be a language from the Philippines. But I also heard the word “bhai” which think is “brother” in Hindi so is it from the subcontinent? A mystery indeed!
Here’s a clue: this language is spoken in Asia on a small island that is part of an island nation.
Could it be a dialect of Divehi in the Maldives?
No, not a dialect of Divehi. This island is in the Pacific Ocean.
Could it be Fijian Hindi?
Another clue: this language is related to Japanese, and some classify it as a dialect of Japanese.
Is it Yonaguni?
Yes, it is.
The language is indeed Yonaguni (ドゥナンムヌイ / Dunan Munui), a Southern Ryukyuan language spoken on Yonaguni island in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.
