Language Quiz 5 September 20215 September 2021 By Simon Here’s a recording in a mystery language. Do you know or can you guess the language, and do you know where it’s spoken?
My first guess is an Amerindian language from the Pacific Northwest in the US or the west coast of Canada.
This is Powhatan, from the Algonkian family. The language of the well known Pocahontas. I think it’s from Virginia.
Thank you Emanuel. I knew that it’s Amerindian and that it could n’t be from the West Coast because of the phonetic complexity of those languages.
The language is Powhatan (Kikitowämank), an Eastern Algonquian language that was spoken in Virigina in the USA, and which is currently being revived. The recording comes from YouTube
