Language quiz 22 May 2016 By Simon Here’s a recording in a mystery language. Can you identify the language, and do you know where it’s spoken?
Reminds me more of Indonesian, but I don’t know anything about the language families in that area so I won’t even try to get more specific. Reply
Yah I’m also wavering between an Indic-influenced language of western Indonesia (maybe Acehnese?) and non-Indic languages of East or Northeast India… I should definitely know this but it’s not hitting me. Reply
The answer is Sora / Sabar (Savara), a Munda language spoken in southern Odisha in eastern India. The recording comes from the Global Recordings Network. Reply
