Language quiz 24 April 2016 By Simon Here’s a recording in a mystery language. Can you identify the language, and do you know where it’s spoken?
Though I heard “Islamabad”, I don’t think that this language is spoken in Pakistan. But it ought to be an Iranian language, anyway
An Iranian language? Perhaps one of those under the ‘Kurdish’ umbrella? I’ll play a wild card and guess at one of the Zaza-Gorani languages.
The answer is Yazgulyam (yuzdami zevég), an Iranian language spoken in Tajikistan. The recording comes from the Global Recordings Network.
