  1. The language sounds similar to Persian/Farsi, but beyond that, I can’t say…

  2. I agree with Chris. It sounds quite like Farsi/Persian. Probably one of the languages up in that area that is fairly closely related to Farsi such as Dari, Tajik or Hazaragi.

But it could also be one that’s more distantly related to Farsi but still within the Indo-Iranian family such as Baluchi, Kurdish or Pashto. Or maybe it’s something entirely different. 😛

  3. I’d go for a minor Iranian language though I didn’t catch any obvious arabic loanwords – that ‘bode’ sure sounds like it belongs to the verb to be

  4. I was thinking a little further east– somewhere in the ‘stans– but can’t really put my finger on why.

  5. I can’t say it’s exactly Farsi, but I hear some Persian words like Khoda and Banj (or Panj). Also, I hear the word Jamaa?at [جماعت] which seems, to me, another word derived from Arabic, meaning “group of people” [جماعة]. I don’t think Avestan would have derived such words from Arabic back then.
It is probably a related language in the vicinity of Iran. Tajik maybe? A dialect of Farsi?
