  1. Renzo says:

Glottal stops which seem phonemic, together with velar nasals initials and the ‘tl’ all point to Mesoamerican or Northern Southamerican groups, but the exact language is not possible to pinpoint: one would need to have some direct experience with that language or a near relative.

    Uhh?
It’s not usual that the language quiz is still unsolved on Tuesday night. Hope you’re doing fine, Simon. If not, get well soon

  3. Roger Bowden says:

Last minute stab in the dark, an Inuit related language from Canada or Greenland.

  4. joe mock says:

South American – the names are all pronounced as in Spanish. Beyond that …..

  5. Simon says:

The answer is Enxet, or Southern Lengua, a Mascoian language spoken in Paraguay.

The recording comes from the GRN.

Daydreamer – I’m fine. I was in Harlech all day yesterday and didn’t get a chance to get online.
