Do you know or can you guess which language it’s in and where it’s spoken?

    Tatar?

I heard “Türkiye’de” but it is obviously not Turkish from Turkey. And then I also heard “Tatarstan” with a back, rounded sound for the first a, and then “Tatar-” again towards the end. That’s seems to be how Tatars pronounce it, so I’ll go with Tatar, too.

Ok, this is kind of hard – but I would say turkish – the ‘l’ and ‘r’ sounds sound kind of slavic, but then there is middle eastern music in the background and there is somewhat of a glottal sound also.

This is my closest guess :)

    Tartar or Bashkir?

    Tatar

    Any possibility for Uyghur?

  7. prase says:

    Azeri.

  8. Polly says:

Turkik but definitely not Turkish. I’ll throw out Kazakh as a wild guess.

  9. Aron says:

The general “feel” and uvular consonants made me think something from the Caucasus/Caspian region. Azeri works for me.

  10. Simon says:

The language is Tatar (татарча), which is spoken mainly in the Russian republic of Tatarstan.

The recording comes from Radio Free Europe
