Language quiz 15 December 2013 By Simon Here’s a recording in a mystery language. Can you identify the language, and do you know where it’s spoken?
Maori, at least from the bilabial fricatives including in what sounds like it would be spelled whenua (or perhaps whanua) in Maori (“land”).
The answer is Taihitian (te reo tahiti/te reo Māʼohi), a Polynesian language spoken mainly in French Polynesia. The recording comes from the GRN.
