Language Quiz 8 September 20248 September 2024 By Simon Here’s a recording in a mystery language. http://www.omniglot.com/soundfiles/blog/quiz080924.mp3 Do you know, or can you guess, the language?
Definitely Polynesian! The phonology makes me think of either a language from the eastern side of the “triangle” or of an “outlier”. Reply
I think it is Mangarevan, spoken in French Polynesia, and it contains a religious message, specifically one typical of the Jehovah’s Witnesses denomination (“Ieova” at 00:01). Reply
I agree with Emanuel since it is the same voice as what he heard on Mangarevan even down to the music in the background. Bravo Emanuel! Reply
