Language quiz 25 June 2017 By Simon Here’s a recording in a mystery language. Can you identify the language, and do you know where it’s spoken?
Those high central vowels, nasalization, and atypical stress pattern (sounds like second-syllable stress) made me think Garifuna too!
It is indeed Garifuna (GarÃfuna), an Arawakan language spoken mainly in Honduras, and also in Belize, Guatamala and Nicaragua. The recording comes from Wikitongues.
Is that Garifuna, by any chance?
