There ae a couple of Arabic words, and it doesn’t sound very far from Arabic. But since it’s in the quiz, it has to be fairly obscure. Soqotri?
That sounds interesting. It sounds like it has a lot of consonants, maybe a Caucasian language? On the other hand, it does sound Semitic…
Is it Maltese? It sounds like there’s something Arabic, right enough, but I also heard something approximating to Spanish. Am I right?
Seán – it’s not Maltese, but is a variety of Arabic.
Is this Arabic with Romanian influence . Although to my limited knowledge the Arabic community there is
quite recent I think I hear Roumanian words for middle and in. Probably way out but we have to try.
The answer is Tunisian Arabic (Tounsi / Derja / تونسي), a variety of Maghrebi Arabic spoken mainly in Tunisia
