Language quiz 6 December 2015 By Simon Here’s a recording in a mystery language. Can you identify the language, and do you know where it’s spoken?
That Dios really stands out. Have no idea about the language though, but I would imagine something from Central or South America.
I also noticed the “Diós,” but I’m guessing it’s a Filipino language that is not Tagalog. I have no idea which one.
The answer is Chontal Maya (Yoko ochoco), a Mayan language spoken in Tabasco State in Mexico. The recording comes from the GRN.

A Mayan language… but not K’iche’, Achi, or Kaqchikel.
