Can any of you decipher this inscription? The image was sent in by a visitor to Omniglot who believes it comes from Indonesia and that the painting style is Balinese or Javanese.
The writing looks like Balinese to me.

Yes Simon,
I think it is Balinese, indeed.
yea it definitely is Balinese!
For me it looks like Sinhalese.
Although it looks Balinese, my first thought was Javanese, perhaps due to the punctuation and diacritical marks.

no i remember looking at omniglot’s Balinese page, it’s Balinese for sure, now just translating it…..
at fist I thought it was Javanese…
the first line was read ‘ Si Rama dewi seta..’ (Lord Rama, White Goddess?)
then I had difficulties reading that so I decided that it had to be Balinese… both looked awfully similar!!! grrrr… I give up! mazel tav, you guys!
ps. Anybody reads Balinese???
One thing I forgot to mention. The carving/decoration style is DEFINITELY Balinese! I’m sure of that!
