Runic puzzle
This photo was sent in by a visitor to Omniglot who would like to know if anyone can identify the alphabet and decipher the inscription. He thinks is looks like Younger Futhork.
[Addendum] Here’s another image showing the inscriptions on both sides of the bar:
It looks like Orkhun or old Finnish alphabet. Do you have better resolution?
It certainly looks like Futhorc, but I can’t identify all the characters (or else in some cases they are reversed left and right), and those I can identify don’t seem to spell anything that looks like language: a beginning of krbu… doesn’t look too promising.
I’ve asked the person who sent this in if he can provide clearer images of the inscription. I’ll post them here if and when I receive them.
