Language quiz 5 February 2017 By Simon Here’s a recording in a mystery language. Can you identify the language, and do you know where it’s spoken?
I’m hearing “puluh,” “ten” in many Austronesian languages. But I can’t make a guess as to which one it might be.
Hmm, I don’t think it’s Austronesian. Sounds like an Australian language to me. But to get any narrower than that, I’d just be guessing randomly.
Sameer – you’re right, it is an Australian language. It’s spoken in the Northern Territory of Australia.
The language is Warlpiri, a Pama-Nyungan language spoken in the Northern Territory of Australia near Alice Springs. The recording comes from the GRN.
