It was a fantastic performance full of joyfully chaotic musical mayhem and brilliance. Tickets sold out very quickly as soon as they went on sale, but more became available when they moved the show to a larger venue &#8211; Electric Brixton, and I was lucky to get one. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LXrWkPnmQxc?si=madkkpHxRBLoVJ4e\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<em>BAND-MAID performing their song Dilly-Dally at Electric Brixton in London &#8211; video by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@M0nkeyMetal\">MetalMonkey<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>They sing mainly in Japanese, with bits of English thrown in for fun. I&#8217;ve heard most of their songs many times, and really enjoy listening to their music, even though I don\u2019t understand many of the lyrics. Sometimes words or phrases will suddenly make sense after hearing them multiple times. This happens with songs in other languages as well, even in English sometimes, when the words are not clearly articulated.<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/omniglot\/55331145089\/in\/dateposted\" title=\"Breakfast in Brixton with Gareth\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55331145089_be54491231_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" alt=\"Breakfast in Brixton with Gareth\"\/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The morning after the concert, I met a friend who lives in Brixton and we went to a nice little caf\u00e9 in Brixton market. I know him through polyglot events I\u2019ve been to, and we spoke mainly in Welsh, one of the languages he speaks well.
