Not long after, others starting used <strong>blog<\/strong> as a noun and a verb.<\/p>\n<p>The word <strong>blogger<\/strong> was coined in 1999 by Evan Williams of Pyra Labs, who produced a online content management system called <strong>Blogger<\/strong> to help people create blogs.<\/p>\n<p>The word <strong>weblog<\/strong> was coined on 17th December 1997 by Jorn Barger, an American blogger, and combines <strong>web<\/strong>, as in <strong>wordwide web<\/strong> and <strong>log<\/strong>, as in a <strong>ship&#8217;s log<\/strong> (a written record of a ship&#8217;s navigation and speed) [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/History_of_blogging\">source<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>The world of <strong>blogs<\/strong> is apparently known as the <strong>blogoverse<\/strong>, the <strong>blogosphere<\/strong>, the <strong>blogdom<\/strong> or <strong>blogland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Within the <strong>blogoverse<\/strong> there are many types of <strong>blog<\/strong>, including the <strong>blahgs<\/strong> (dull or uninteresting blogs), <strong>splogs<\/strong> (fake blogs full of link spam), a.k.a. <strong>flogs<\/strong> or <strong>spam blogs<\/strong>, and even <strong>metablogs<\/strong> (blogs about blogs) [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/blog#Derived_terms\">source<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>Blog-related words are collectively known as <strong>blogspeak<\/strong> or <strong>blargon<\/strong> (jargon of the blogosphere), and ever since I started this blog, I&#8217;ve kept my eyes and ears open for <strong>bloggable<\/strong> words and expressions to <strong>blog<\/strong> and\/or <strong>blogcast<\/strong> about.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to support this podcast, you can make a donation via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paypal.com\/uk\/cgi-bin\/webscr?cmd=_flow&amp;SESSION=aLjPfXL-vP_1gQ_U23Iz8_hSWLlhzLHPMFZrt32dIEfG8htoNFLYaPoWkv8&amp;dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f8e263663d3faee8def8934b92a630e40b7fef61ab7e9fe63\">PayPal<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/omniglot\">Patreon<\/a>, or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omniglot.com\/donations.htm\">contribute to Omniglot in other ways<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Radio Omniglot podcasts are brought to you in association with <a href=\"https:\/\/blubrry.com\/services\/podcast-hosting\/?code=omniglot\">Blubrry Podcast Hosting<\/a>, a great place to host your podcasts.
