These include <strong>bol<\/strong> [b\u0254l] (stomach) in Welsh, <strong>bolg<\/strong> [\u02c8b\u02e0\u0254l\u02e0\u0259\u0261] (belly, stomach, bulge, bag) in Irish, and <strong>bolgan<\/strong> [b\u0254l\u032a\u02e0\u0254gan] (light bulb, (plant) bulb) in Scottish Gaelic [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/Reconstruction:Proto-Celtic\/bolgos\">source<\/a>]. More details of these words is available on my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omniglot.com\/celtiadur\/2018\/11\/15\/sacks-bags-stomachs\/\">Celtiadur<\/a> blog.<\/p>\n<p>English words from the same PIE root include <strong>bellows<\/strong>, <strong>belly<\/strong>, and <strong>bolster<\/strong>, via Old English and Proto-Germanic, <strong>billow<\/strong> via Old Norse and Proto-Germanic, <strong>foolish<\/strong> and <strong>folly<\/strong> via Old French and Latin [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/Category:English_terms_derived_from_the_Proto-Indo-European_root_*b%CA%B0el%C7%B5%CA%B0-\">source<\/a>], and <strong>bulge<\/strong>, <strong>budge<\/strong> and <strong>budget<\/strong> via Old French, Latin and Gaulish [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/bouge#Old_French\">source<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>The first part of the word <strong>foolhardy<\/strong> (recklessly or thoughtlessly bold;
