Other ways of looking in French include <em>voir<\/em> (to look\/see), <em>un aper\u00e7u<\/em> (a glimpse) and <em>entrevoir<\/em> \/ <em>apercevoir<\/em> (to glimpse)<\/p>\n<p>Welsh equivalents of a glance or glimpse are <em>cipolwg<\/em>, <em>cipdrem<\/em> and <em>cipedrych<\/em> which is made up of <em>cip<\/em> (a snatching), <em>golwg<\/em> (sight, appearance, view), <em>trem<\/em> (look, sight) and <em>edrych<\/em> (to look\/see).<\/p>\n<p>Are there interesting equivalents of glance, glimpse, peek or related words in other languages?<\/p>\n<p>Do other languages making a distinction between looking and seeing?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week I discovered that the French equivalent of a glance or a peek is un coup d&#8217;\u0153il (&#8216;a blow\/stroke of the eye&#8217;), and to glance\/peek is jeter un coup d&#8217;\u0153il (&#8216;to thow a stroke of the eye&#8217;) which I thought was an interesting way of saying it.
