I learnt an interesting word in Old Norse recently: kol-bitr<\/strong> (“coal-biter”), which refers to an idle person who always sits by the fire. kol<\/em> = coals, charcoal, and bitr<\/em> = biting, snapping; cutting, sharp [source<\/a>].<\/p>\n

In Elder Futhark runes this is \u16b2\u16df\u16da\u16eb\u16d2\u16c1\u16cf\u16b1 and in Younger Futhork runes it’s \u16b4\u16ab\u16da\u16eb\u16d3\u16c1\u16d0\u16b1.<\/p>\n
