{"id":8004,"date":"2012-12-18T17:18:18","date_gmt":"2012-12-18T17:18:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.omniglot.com\/blog\/?p=8004"},"modified":"2012-12-18T17:18:18","modified_gmt":"2012-12-18T17:18:18","slug":"ithkuil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omniglot.com\/bloggle\/?p=8004","title":{"rendered":"Ithkuil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/reporting\/2012\/12\/24\/121224fa_fact_foer?currentPage=all&#038;src=longreads\">interesting article<\/a> in the New Yorker about conlangs and specifically about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ithkuil.net\/\">Ithkuil<\/a>, which, according to its creator, John Quijada, is &#8220;an idealized language whose aim is the highest possible degree of logic, efficiency, detail, and accuracy in cognitive expression via spoken human language, while minimizing the ambiguity, vagueness, illogic, redundancy, polysemy (multiple meanings) and overall arbitrariness that is seemingly ubiquitous in natural human language.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For me ambiguity, vagueness, illogic, redundancy, polysemy and overall arbitrariness are some of the things that make languages so interesting, and I suspect that in some ways languages work better because of them.
