Today&#8217;s lesson, for example, includes these words:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; korn = cornel (corner)<br \/>\n&#8211; straed= stryd (street) &#8211; e korn ar straed = ar gornel y stryd (on the street corner)<br \/>\n&#8211; iliz = eglwys (church)<br \/>\n&#8211; marc&#8217;had-mat (&#8216;good market&#8217;) = rhad (cheap) &#8211; looks like a calque translation from the French bonne-march\u00e9<br \/>\n&#8211; kig = cig (meat)<br \/>\n&#8211; kig yar (&#8216;hen meat&#8217;) = cyw i\u00e2r (chicken)<br \/>\n&#8211; piz-bihan = pys (peas) &#8211; looks like a calque of petit-pois.<br \/>\n&#8211; tartezenn avalo\u00f9 =  pastai afal (apple tart\/pie)<br \/>\n&#8211; enez = ynys (island)<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday we had deiz = dydd (day), beure = bore (morning), and noz = nos (night). The spelling and pronunciation disguises the related words, but once you get used to it, you can spot them more easily.
