There are apparently similar words in the other Scandinavian languages, and also in Dutch (<em>arbeidsvreugde<\/em>) and German (<em>Arbeitszufriedenheit<\/em>). The closest equivalent I can find in English is <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Job_satisfaction\">job satisfaction<\/a>, though this doesn&#8217;t seem to have quite the same meaning as the Danish one.<\/p>\n<p>I found this word on Alex Kjerulf&#8217;s blog, <a href=\"http:\/\/positivesharing.com\/\">Chief Happiness Officer<\/a>, in a <a href=\"http:\/\/positivesharing.com\/2008\/01\/karoshi-vs-arbejdsglaede\/\">post<\/a> where he discusses some of the differences in work cultures between Scandinavia and Japan, where there&#8217;s a word meaning &#8216;death by overwork&#8217; \u904e\u52b4\u6b7b (kar\u014dshi).<\/p>\n<p>Do you know if there&#8217;s an equivalent to <em>arbejdsgl\u00e6de<\/em> in other languages?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arbejdsgl\u00e6de is a Danish word meaning literally &#8220;work gladness\/joy&#8221;.
