According to a report<\/a> I found today, a textbook for Japanese people wanting to learn Welsh entitled \u30a6\u30a7\u30fc\u30eb\u30ba\u8a9e\u306e\u57fa\u672c<\/a> (W\u0113ruzugo no Kihon – “Basic Welsh”) by Dr Yoshifumi Nagata (\u6c38\u7530\u559c\u6587) and Takeshi Koike (\u5c0f\u6c60\u525b\u53f2) was recently published. <\/p>\n

Dr Nagata teaches Welsh culture at universities in Japan and developed an interest for the Welsh language through the Welsh poetry of R. S. Thomas. While trying to learn Welsh in Japan he was frustrated by the lack of material in Japanese so decided to produce the textbook. Takeshi Koike learnt Welsh in Lampeter and speaks and writes it fluently and has published several works on the Welsh language.<\/p>\n

This isn’t the only Welsh language course in Japanese though: on Amazon.co.jp I found \u6bce\u65e5\u30a6\u30a7\u30fc\u30eb\u30ba\u8a9e\u3092\u8a71\u305d\u3046<\/a> (Let’s Talk Welsh Every Day) by Hiroshi Mizutani (\u6c34\u8c37\u5b8f), which was published in 1996.<\/p>\n
