It\u2019s origins are unknown [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/snooze#English\">source<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nuzzle<\/strong> means to touch someone or something with the nose, or to bring the nose to the ground, to burrow with the nose, or thrust the nose into  [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.etymonline.com\/search?q=nuzzle\">source<\/a>]. It comes from the Middle English <em>noselyng<\/em> (face-downward, on the nose, in a prostrate position), from <em>nose<\/em> (nose, beak) and  <em>-lyng<\/em> (a suffix denoting direction, state or position) [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/nuzzle\">source<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s something about the combination of letters in <strong>snoozle<\/strong> that appeals to me, especially the <strong>sn<\/strong> and the <strong>oo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Some other Scots words beginning with <strong>snoo<\/strong> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>snoofmadrune<\/strong> = a lazy or inactive person<\/li>\n<li><strong>snooie<\/strong> = to toss the head as if displeased (of cattle)<\/li>\n<li><strong>snoove<\/strong> = to become maudlin or sloppily sentimental<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Are there words in other languages that have similar meanings?<\/p>\n<p>One I can think of is the Welsh\/Wenglish word <strong>cwtsh\/cwtch<\/strong> [k\u028at\u0283], which means a hug, cuddle, cubbyhole or little corner. It comes from the Middle English <em>couche<\/em> [\u02c8ku\u02d0t\u0283(\u0259)] (bed), from the Old French <em>couche<\/em> (bed, lair), from <em>couch(i)er<\/em> (to lay down, place; go to bed, put to bed), from the Latin <em>colloc\u014d<\/em> (I place, put, settle) [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/cwtsh\">source<\/a>].<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Feeling tired?
